Sensei Mark Greville

Sensei (SEN-SAY -teacher, one who comes before)

Greville, is a master of Okinawan Karate, holding the

internationally recognized grade of 7th Dan.

 

Sensei has a highly respectable depth of experience teaching the arts of

Okinawan Shorin-ryu Karate and Kobudo (weapons) for the purpose of

self-defence and personal development. Sensei has taught thousands of

children both in Okinawa, Japan and Australia and has a proven methodology

for success.

1971 Commencement of Karate training Shorin-Ryu Karate College [Shorin-Ryu Matsubayashi-Ryu]

 

1976 30th December Issued Shodan (1st Dan) Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do. Instructor Mr P.Alexander. Certificate issued under the signature of Shoshin Nagamine 9th Dan.

 

1978 10th October Issued the grade of Nidan (2nd Dan) Shorin-Ryu Matsubayashi-Ryu Orthodox Karate-Do. Instructor Mr T.Lange 5th Dan. [Certificate issued under the signature of Hohan Soken 10th Dan.

 

1979 Elected to the position of Vice President on the Board of Shorikan Shorin-Ryu Martial Arts Association.

 

1983 Founded the Independant Martial Arts of N.S.W. Elected Chairman and tournament Director.

 

1985 February Graded Sandan (3rd Dan) in Okinawa, Japan under Grand Master Shugoro Nakazarto 10th Dan. Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate Association.

 

1985 September Issued the grade of Shihan (Official Instructor Grade) Under the authorisation of Shugoro Nakazarto.

 

1985 December Graded Yondan (4th Dan) Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate Association under the authorisation of Shugoro Nakazarto

 

1987 October Graded Godan (5th Dan) in Okinwana, Japan under the authorisation of the board of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate Association.

 

1989 Hosted an international Karate Tournament with guest from Okinawa, Japan, State and Interstate competitors. Founder member of the Okinawan Karate Association of Australia. Member Associations included Okinwan Uechi-Ryu, Okinwan Goju-Ryu & Okinawan Shorin-Ryu.

 

1992 November Established the full time headquarters dojo to teach Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan at 112 Condimine St Balgowlah.

 

1993 January Elected president of the Okinawan Karate Association of Australia. Hosted an international Okinawan Karate Tournament at the States Sport Centre, Homebush NSW.

 

1995 Represented Australia in the Preworld Okinawan Karate & Kubudo Championships in Okinawa, Japan. Providing a tournament team and personally competing in Kata and Kumite.

 

1995 Established the Shorinkan - Shorin-Ryu Karate Dojo at 1138 Piwwater Rd Collaroy, NSW Australia.

 

1998 Formed the Ryukyu Shorin-Ryu International Association. Member ogranisations in Australia and South East Asia. Nominated 7th Dan Kyoshi by Association members. Established the Shorinkan Shorin-Ryu Karate Dojo as the International Headquarters Dojo.
